\"\"Nassau, Bahamas \u2013 The island of Bimini is set out to receive a major boost to its economy.\u00a0 Genting Malaysia will partner with RAV Bahamas to launch Resorts World Bimini Bay, a luxury boutique casino facility at Bimini Bay Resort & Marina in North Bimini Island. The project, once completed is expected to employ some 300 persons directly and up to 1000 persons indirectly. In addition, the government is currently holding \u2018talks\u2019 with three major airlines, including Bahamasair and several charter services to increase airlift to the island.<\/p>\n

The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Office of the Prime Minister on Friday, June 29.\u00a0 Minister of Tourism, Obediah Wilchcombe said that he is \u201cvery happy indeed for Bimini.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you consider the fact that Bimini has a visitor rate of 79 percent; when you consider the fact that it\u2019s right next door to the United States \u2013 just 55 nautical miles and when you consider the fact that it\u2019s a gateway to The Bahamas, then we\u2019re going to make sure that the name has meaning and that\u2019s going to come with all the work that we\u2019re going to do,\u201d said Mr. Wilchcombe.<\/p>\n

CEO of RAV Bahamas, Mr. Gerardo Capo said that he is very excited to have this opportunity to expand his company\u2019s investments in The Bahamas.<\/p>\n

In addition, the Genting Group has global investments in plantations, power generation, oil and gas, real estate, cruise, leisure and other industries.<\/p>\n

RAV Bahamas is a real estate development and construction company in The Bahamas, which specialises in hotel, residential, retail, commercial, marine and infrastructure projects throughout the Caribbean.<\/p>\n

Bimini Bay Resort & Marina is a master-planned oceanfront community featuring over 480 luxury homes and villas suites, the largest yacht marina complex in The Bahamas, four restaurants, two pools, an open-air shopping village, tennis, children\u2019s play centre and newly opened beach club.<\/p>\n
