A man wanted for questioning in connection with the theft of an armored truck in Cable Beach on Thursday night was arrested Friday afternoon, police said.<\/p>\n
According to Superintendent Paul Rolle, who heads the Central Detective Unit (CDU), police were questioning a 23-year-old man.<\/p>\n
Police said I.C.S. Security Concepts had yet to report the total amount of cash that was stolen. The truck was stolen from outside Burger King at Hoffer\u2019s Plaza around 8 p.m., according to Rolle.<\/p>\n
According to reports received by police, one guard stayed outside to guard the truck while another went inside to do a pickup.<\/p>\n
As the armed guard was guarding the truck, he was reportedly accosted by a man with a handgun.<\/p>\n
Police were told that as the gunman held the guard at gunpoint, a second man jumped into the driver\u2019s seat and was followed by the gunman.<\/p>\n
They then reportedly pulled off in the truck with the money. The guards had reportedly made several pickups before stopping at Burger King.<\/p>\n
Police said a short time after the truck was stolen, they discovered it abandoned on nearby Hampshire Street.<\/p>\n
Rolle said police received reports that the men were met by an accomplice who was driving a champagne colored Nissan Skyline.<\/p>\n
However, police have not been able to provide a license plate number for the vehicle. No one was injured in the holdup and no shots were fired, according to police.<\/p>\n
