Michel Harajchi, son of Suisse Security Bank chairman Mohammed Harajchi, is applying for Bahamian citizenship.<\/p>\n
The 32 year old told The Tribune yesterday that he made the decision to apply for citizenship last week.<\/p>\n
Mr. Harajchi said he has lived in Nassau for 22 years, has been married to a Bahamian for nine years and the couple have a child who is a Bahamian citizen.<\/p>\n
“I figured after all this time that it was about time that I decided whether or not I would spend the rest of my life here and the answer was absolutely yes,” he said.<\/p>\n
This is Mr. Harajchi’s first Bahamian citizenship application.<\/p>\n
Mr. Harajchi said that his father is a permanent resident of he Bahamas and a “number of years ago” submitted a citizenship application, “maybe under the old PLP”.<\/p>\n
He said the idea to apply crossed his mind once or twice previously but he hadn’t thought about it seriously until last week.<\/p>\n
Notice of Mr. Harajchi’s citizenship application was published in newspapers on Saturday.<\/p>\n
He said he was not sure if he would have to give up his German citizenship, but added that he knows the application takes “quite a long time” and he would have time to think about it.<\/p>\n
Mr. Harajchi, who described his job at the East Bay offices as a” little bit of everything”, said he was not sure about his plans for the future.<\/p>\n
Mr. Harajchi said what he likes most about living in The Bahamas are the people.<\/p>\n
“I’ve been in the States and in Europe and Bahamian people as a whole are some of the most friendly people anywhere,” he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
