\n\t\t\t\tStudents of the St. Anne\u2019s Constituency Summer Camp learn about Junkanoo from Arlene Nash Ferguson during their field trip to Educulture.\n\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n
\n“The goal was to give each child a head start in specific academic areas in preparation for the new school year.\u00a0 This would ensure that our kids would be ready to face new challenges with a positive attitude. We are pleased to report that our campers also participated in discussions pertaining to conflict resolution techniques, both in and outside the classroom.\u00a0 It is our hope that our campers will grow to be become productive citizens who will contribute to the development of their country.\u201d<\/p>\nThe St. Anne\u2019s Constituency Summer Camp curriculum was designed by Roxanne Chipman, a former schoolteacher for many years at St. Augustine\u2019s College and current owner and administrator of Gleniston Centre For Learning, Ltd.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur summer camp was offered free of charge and we were committed to giving students an educational program that reinforced the basics but also offered them time to have fun, exercise and enjoy interesting fieldtrips,\u201d added Mrs. Chipman. \u201cWe were so pleased to see their progress throughout the camp.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mrs. Chipman, along with volunteers Joia Archer and Dedrie Woods, ran the summer camp with the assistance of high school students who donated their time and received community credits. Other volunteers assisted and St. Anne\u2019s constituents along with the Inner Wheel Club of East Nassau donated snacks and drinks for students for the four weeks.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are grateful to our volunteers, sponsors and the wonderful constituents of St. Anne\u2019s for their continued support,\u201d added Mr. Chipman at the end of camp appreciation ceremony.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe especially thank Father Hugh Bartlett of St. Anne\u2019s Anglican Church for his support and the use of the beautiful community centre. The first St. Anne\u2019s Constituency Summer Camp was a tremendous success and we hope to enlarge our student and volunteer base to accommodate more students in the coming years.\u201d<\/p>\n
