{"id":240259,"date":"2003-01-20T10:30:22","date_gmt":"2003-01-20T15:30:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=240259"},"modified":"2021-02-14T08:57:37","modified_gmt":"2021-02-14T13:57:37","slug":"pm-promises-to-act-on-investment-red-tape","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2003\/01\/pm-promises-to-act-on-investment-red-tape","title":{"rendered":"PM Promises To Act On Investment Red Tape"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Speaking at the Business Outlook 2003 seminar last week, Bahamian Prime Minister, Perry Christie signalled his awareness of the excessively bureaucratic nature of the jurisdiction&#8217;s investment regime, and pledged changes over the coming year.<\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>The Nassau Guardian on Friday quoted Mr Christie as observing that &#8216;hundreds of millions&#8217; of investment dollars are waiting to pour into the Bahamian economy, represented by pending applications before the Bahamas Investment Authority and the National Economic Council.<\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>However, he warned that long delays in processing applications, and high levels of red tape could cause investors to look elsewhere.<\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>&#8216;Simply put, the wheels of the government are still moving too slowly and inefficiently in this regard.
