Superintendent Hulan Hanna, Police Press Liaison Officer, said the body of Richard Cox, a resident of Crystal Way, Windsor Place, was discovered by police shortly after 7 a.m. on Saturday, lying on his side in a pool of blood on an unpaved road just off the Charles Saunders Highway, west of the Seabreeze traffic light. <\/P><\/p>\n
He said police arrived on the scene around 7.15 a.m. after they received information that a body of a male was seen lying in the area. <\/P><\/p>\n
The deceased was clad in a pair of black jogging pants, a red shirt and black tennis shoes. <\/P><\/p>\n
“So far the police have no idea what may have led to the shooting, but we are following several leads,” Mr. Hanna told the Guardian, noting that reports had also been received that gunshots rang out in the area around 2.30 a.m. “We are asking anyone who may have heard the gunshots or seen any activity in the area around that time to please call crime tipsters at 328-8477,” he said. <\/P><\/p>\n
A week prior to Cox’ death, 31-year-old Manuel Fernander was shot and killed after answering a knock on the door of his Comfort Street home. <\/P><\/p>\n
Fernander was shot twice in the chest by someone, who it was speculated, may have been known to him. <\/P><\/p>\n
The deceased died after being taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital. <\/P><\/p>\n
In an interview with the Guardian last week, Superintendent Marvin Dames said that police had “some significant leads now and we should be wrapping this up in a few days.” <\/P><\/p>\n
Two persons, a 31-year-old man, and a juvenile have since been charged with the murder. <\/P>
