{"id":242825,"date":"2006-07-21T10:48:30","date_gmt":"2006-07-21T14:48:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2006\/07\/traitors-bahamian-fishermen-arranging-scam-marriages"},"modified":"2006-07-21T10:48:30","modified_gmt":"2006-07-21T14:48:30","slug":"traitors-bahamian-fishermen-arranging-scam-marriages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2006\/07\/traitors-bahamian-fishermen-arranging-scam-marriages","title":{"rendered":"Traitors: Bahamian Fishermen Arranging Scam Marriages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hundreds of foreign fishermen are finding work on Bahamian boats through a sophisticated &quot;black market&quot; operation, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Leslie Miller has revealed.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Miller explained that local fishermen are engaging Bahamian women to marry foreign men &#8211; so that their new husbands can be used as &quot;cheap labour&quot; &#8211; despite the fact that some of the men are already married.<\/p>\n<p>He said there are about 600 to 1,000 of these persons in the fishing industry at the moment.
