Gold Rock Creek Enterprises Ltd. was sued in Miami-Dade County by The Bahamas Films Studios Inc.<\/p>\n
“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” were both filmed on the 3,500-acre property near Freeport, Michael Singer, a publicist for the movies, said Tuesday.<\/p>\n
But according to the lawsuit, which was filed Friday, the Miami-based studio has been in financial turmoil, projects have been undercapitalized and it owes significant debts to various investors.<\/p>\n
Tennessee investment banker Ross N. Fuller, who is also named as a defendant in the lawsuit, agreed to sell 100 percent of the studio’s shares to The Bahamas Films Studios Inc. in 2005. In exchange, the company agreed to take over defendant Ashby Bahamas Holdings Ltd.’s debts, but the shares were never turned over, said Ronald Weil, an attorney for The Bahamas Film Studios Inc.<\/p>\n
“We’re in court make sure that what we bargained for gets delivered,” Weil said.<\/p>\n
Fuller intended to design a contract where The Bahamas Film Studios Inc. would clean up millions of dollars of the studio’s debts and provide additional funds so the studio could comply with its agreement with Disney, the lawsuit said.<\/p>\n
