Twenty-six-year-old Sermanthia Wendy Lightbourne, a resident of Union Road, was formally arraigned in Magistrate Court 11, Nassau Street, before Magistrate Susan Sylvester. Sgt. Neely prosecuted the matter. The defendants were not represented by legal counsel.<\/p>\n
Particulars allege that on Sunday, September 17, the 26-year-old stole from Esso Service Station, Bargain City Plaza, Carmichael Road, $1,840, which she had access to by reason of employment.<\/p>\n
Further, the Crown alleged that Lightbourne on the same date made a false statement to Detective Sergeant 1239 Maycock, tending to show that an offence had been committed.<\/p>\n
Lightbourne was also charged, along with Calvin Alexander McPhee a resident of Zion Boulevard, with dishonestly receiving. <\/p>\n
It is also alleged that the duo received the money knowing it to have been obtained or appropriated by an offence.<\/p>\n
They pleaded not guilty to the charge. Bail was granted in the amount of $3,500 each. The matter has been adjourned to January 18, 2007. In other news, the search continues for two of the three men who had been on board a fishing boat that sank in 30-feet of water off Moore’s Island on Monday.<\/p>\n
Missing are Michael Pinder, a resident of No 3 Widgeon Road and Lenward Davis, of No 67 Pioneer’s Way, who were last seen swimming about nine miles off Moore’s Island. <\/p>\n
Reportedly, the third man on board the vessel, Cephas Taylor (52) of Freeport, was rescued from the water by a passing boat near Moore’s Island after spending 20 hours in the rough seas.<\/p>\n
He was treated at the local clinic for dehydration and hypothermia.<\/p>\n
Reportedly, the men left on Wednesday from McClean’s Town aboard ‘Sloppy Patrol,’ (a 21ft Chapparal speedboat,) on a fishing trip to Moore’s Island. <\/p>\n
According to reports, local boaters along with the US Coast Guard officials have been searching for the men without success.<\/p>\n
