It seeks to harmonise regulatory policies and legislation and to give the region a unified voice in international forum. <\/p>\n<p>This forum brings together local, regional and international capital market stakeholders. They will exchange ideas on current regulatory challenges with a view to broadening participants&#8217; un-derstanding of these issues.  <\/p>\n<p>Under the theme &#8220;Challeng-es Facing Caribbean Securi-ties Regulators: Priorities &#038; Perspectives,&#8221; the Conference will address matters such as combating market abuse, corporate governance, enforcement, mergers &#038; acquisitions and minority shareholders&#8217; interests, hedge funds regulation, and the relaxation of exchange controls.   <\/p>\n<p>Participants in the event will be drawn from the Central Bank of The Bahamas, securities commissions and ex-changes in the Caribbean region, as well as the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the International Or-ganisation of Securities Com-missions (IOSCO) and the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (USSEC). The accounting and legal professions will also be represented. <\/p>\n<p>This two-day event will take the form of a series of technical presentations and panel discussions. Presenters  will include  Ana Carvajal, Ad-visor \uff96 Technical Monetary and Capital Markets Depart-ment of the IMF;   Kendrick Christie, president \uff96 Bahamas Institute of Chartered Ac-countants; Wendy Craigg, governor &#8211; Central Bank of The Bahamas; Keith Davies, CEO &#8211; Bahamas International Securities Exchange; Phil-lippe Richard, secretary general \uff96 IOSCO; Ethiopis Tafara, Director of International Af-fairs at the USSEC, and Wen-dy Warren, CEO, Bahamas Financial Services Board. <\/p>\n<p>The forum is open to the general public.
