{"id":243898,"date":"2003-08-20T12:19:42","date_gmt":"2003-08-20T16:19:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2003\/08\/govt-in-talks-on-new-cable-beach-hotel"},"modified":"2003-08-20T12:19:42","modified_gmt":"2003-08-20T16:19:42","slug":"govt-in-talks-on-new-cable-beach-hotel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2003\/08\/govt-in-talks-on-new-cable-beach-hotel","title":{"rendered":"Gov&#8217;t In Talks On New Cable Beach Hotel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Th government is in talks with investors about developing a 100-plus room hotel on the Cable Beach site currently occupied by the Gaming Board and The Bahamas Development Bank, The Hotel Corporation&#8217;s chairman revealed The Tribune yesterday.<br \/>\n<P><a href=https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/webawards\/order_tickets.htm><img src=https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/webawards\/images\/tickets.jpg width=179 height=259 border=0 vspace=3 align=right><\/a><br \/>\nGeorge Smith said that if  negotiations were successfully completed, the Gaming Board and the Development Bank would be relocated from their current sites opposite the Cable Beach Golf Course to a complex situated in the north\/west Prospect Ridge highway corridor currently under construction.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nThe complex would house the Development Bank, the Gaming Board and a number of commercial outlets. If this happened, Mr Smith said it would also mean the closure of the road directly in front of hotels on the Cable Beach strip, in an attempt to make the area more inviting to tourists.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nIn an interview Mr Smith said the Hotel Corporation management had reduced the number of bidders for the Radisson Hotel and Resort to about six or seven who could be expected to put forward solid proposals.
