He also urged the police to take action.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nMr. McCartney said, &#8220;This was a dark area. There was not even a light on the lamp poles. There was nothing to warn about the roadworks. I was right on top of it before I saw it.&#8221;<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\n&#8220;I understand I was not the first to run into it. Others had struck the roadworks earlier in the evening.&#8221;<br \/>\n<P>He said workmen turned up to put lights on the roadworks after the crash.<br \/>\n<P>The Tribune was on the scene withing minutes and tried to speak to the sub-contractors who had reportedly dug the hole on behalf of BaTelCo.
