With backyards full of water several Hillside Park residents are frustrated by what they say is a lack of concern by developers Arawak Homes, though company president Bismarck Coakley said they are not responsible.

\nPrieta Burnside said that during the last four months her yard has been flooded and remains saturated because of water trickling from the construction near her home.
\n
\nAt its worst, the water has flooded four homes on the hill with two feet of water, killing one neighbour’s pear tree and making her garden a sloshy landscape, Ms. Burnside said.
\n
\nShe said the problem started when workers from Arawak Homes were drilling at the development near her home on Hillside Park Road. Water “shot up like a fountain” and ran down the hill into several yards, filling them to knee level.
\n
\nThe gushing continued for days before slowing to a steady trickle that collects in sunken spots in the lawn and under the grass, she said.
\n
\nMr. Coakley said Arawak Homes was building drainage wells which would cause flooding because they drill through the water table.
\n
\nOther than the one or two occasions when they actually drilled, however, he said no water should be coming from the development.

\nStepping from rock to rock across a pond of water in the corner of his yard, Mr. Colin leads the way to the Arawak Homes delopment to point out what he felt was the origin of the water. Puddles marked a path from a small pond in the construction site to Mr. Colin’s yard.

\nThe pockets of water are breeding gorunds for mosquitos, which buzzed in small clouds around the larger puddles.
\n
\nSeveral months ago Ms. Burnside called Mr. Coakley who told her he would come and see for himself what was going on but she has not heard from him since.<\/p>\n
