{"id":244318,"date":"2003-10-31T19:22:57","date_gmt":"2003-11-01T00:22:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2003\/10\/east-grand-bahama-areas-to-receive-cable-tv-and-broadband"},"modified":"2003-10-31T19:22:57","modified_gmt":"2003-11-01T00:22:57","slug":"east-grand-bahama-areas-to-receive-cable-tv-and-broadband","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2003\/10\/east-grand-bahama-areas-to-receive-cable-tv-and-broadband","title":{"rendered":"East Grand Bahama Areas To Receive Cable TV and Broadband"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Customers in High Rock, Freetown and Bevan\uffb4s Town can sign up for services immediately and installations are expected to commence by Friday, November 7.<\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>Grand Bahama and Abaco General Manager Erik Russell said that the company has been focusing work over the past three months to make this major extension possible. &#8220;The residents in these areas of east Grand Bahama will soon be able to enjoy all of our cable TV services,&#8221; Mr Russell said. &#8220;This was made possible because of our extension to our fibre optic network.&#8221; Mr Russell noted that resorts in these areas have already signed up for service to enhance their offerings to their guests.<\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>Residents in these settlements will have access to Cable Bahamas\uffb4 53-channel basic cable TV service, 27 channels of premium subscription packages, the SelectVISION 10-channel pay-perview movie and special event service, and DMX Music which offers 40 channels of commercialfree digital music. NFL Sunday Ticket will also be available to residents for the first time. CoralWave broadband Internet access is expected to be available to these residents by November 30th, 2003. CoralWave provides high-speed Internet access for residential customers starting at $9.95 per month and for business customers at speeds ranging from 512Kb\/s to 1.5Mb\/s. The service does not require a telephone line and is available as an &#8220;always on&#8221; service.<\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>Cable Bahamas sales personnel will be canvassing the area between October 31 and November 7 to inform potential customers of the services and sign up interested persons. Residents may also visit the company\uffb4s Grand Bahama office in the Seventeen Centre, downtown Freeport, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday, or on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cable Bahamas Ltd. is majority owned by 2,800 Bahamians and the Government of the Bahamas. The company\uffb4s 270 employees provide world-class cable television service on 16 Bahamian islands; high-speed Internet access services in Grand Bahama, Abaco, Eleuthera and New Providence; connectivity between the Bahamas and the rest of the world with a 600-kilometre, submarine, fibre-optic system owned and operated by wholly owned subsidiary Caribbean Crossings Ltd; and Web-hosting, data centre, and disaster recovery services through wholly owned subsidiary Maxil Communications Ltd.
