{"id":244497,"date":"2003-11-27T12:06:21","date_gmt":"2003-11-27T17:06:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2003\/11\/fury-over-oil-slick-at-clifton-pier"},"modified":"2003-11-27T12:06:21","modified_gmt":"2003-11-27T17:06:21","slug":"fury-over-oil-slick-at-clifton-pier","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2003\/11\/fury-over-oil-slick-at-clifton-pier","title":{"rendered":"Fury Over Oil Slick At Clifton Pier"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Divers report that the oil stretches from about 100 feet off the Clifton Pier coast, south of BEC&#8217;s power plant, all the way down to Lyford Cay bay.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nOn Tuesday irate tourists resurfaced after a fabulous dive at the &#8220;James Bond wreck&#8221; covered in oil.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nCaptain Tony Duncombe of Dive, Dive, Dive said at about noon Tuesday he, along with three divemasters and 19 tourists, went on a deep sea dive. While enjoying their deep sea adventure, Captain Duncombe, the only one left on the boat, noticed the slick.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nThe current was pulling the aslick toward them, he said but he could not contact his colleagues to inform them of what was ahead.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nCaptain Duncombe was not only upset that his visitors were extremely disgruntled, but that the marine environment was at risk.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nOil is toxic to coral and other marine organisms.
