Labour Minister Vincent Peet yesterday met well into the night with leaders of the Bahamas Employers Association and the Bahamas Hotel Catering and Allied Workers Union, as industrial action at three hotle properties entered their second day.

\nMr. Peet said he hoped to defuse what he described as a “potentially explosive situation” at Atlantis.
\n
\nReports circulated that the union had resorted to blocking the entrance to Atlantis’ laundry room and the entrance bridge to Paradise Island.
\n
\nHowever, union president Pat Bain denied this, saying the union would not take part in any illegal action. He promised The Tribune he would address the matter in a press release which was not received up to press time.
\n
\nIn addition, reports reaching The Tribune said that productivity at the hotel’s laundry room dropped to 5 per cent as workers stood in front of the machines refusing to let managers take over the work.

\nThe trucks used to transport the linen from the laundry room to the hotel were travelling at two miles per hour and arriving twenty minutes later.
\n
\nWorkers also parked their cars at the entrance of the hotel playing “cat and mouse” games with hotel security.
