Today’s meeting follows an executive order issued by Mr. Peet on New Year’s Eve that put an end to a union go-slow at three hotels.

\nThe go-slow was called off by the union on December 31 after Mr. Peet ordered the Bahamas Hotel Catering and Allied Workers Union and the Bahamas Hotel Employers Association to return to the negotiating table.
\n
\nOperations at Atlantis, Radisson and The British Colonial Hilton, where workers brought service to a crawl for almost three days, were returning to normal yesterday.
\n
\nIssues still on the table include the length of the industrial agreement and salary increases.
\n
\nThe union wants a 12 per cent increase over four years. The employers are offering a 6 per cent increase over five years.
\n
\nMr. Peet said the ministry will analyse the proposal to see how realistic the agreement is, and he wants hotels to be able to deal with employees at the lower end of the pay scale who do not receive tips.<\/p>\n
