{"id":244790,"date":"2004-01-14T13:35:40","date_gmt":"2004-01-14T18:35:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2004\/01\/international-calls-hit-by-cable-damage"},"modified":"2004-01-14T13:35:40","modified_gmt":"2004-01-14T18:35:40","slug":"international-calls-hit-by-cable-damage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2004\/01\/international-calls-hit-by-cable-damage","title":{"rendered":"International Calls Hit By Cable Damage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to reports, persons were unable to call family and friends or make business calls, much to the inconvenience of thousands of Bahamians and visitors.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nMs. Gibson, a Batelco supervisor, cofirmed that a damaged undersea cable was responsible for the island-wide shut down of international services.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nAt the Atlantis resort guests who had emergency phone calls were allowed to make connections through another avenue, a manager reported, alleviating some of the stress caused by the situation.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nCable Bahamas was contacted to find out if Batelco could use its cables to provide temporary service for its customers.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nThe British Colonial Hilton&#8217;s front desk reported that guests were not complaining as yet, after learning that people were being affected island-wide.
