In the 12 months of last year there were seven recorded police shootings, with three deaths. <\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>No police officer has been shot and killed on duty in the two years. <\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>The controversial May 18 shooting death of 22-year-old Drexell Rolle created a major uproar in the Market Street community after Rolle was shot dead by police when he attempted to open fire on police officers during a car chase. <\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>On June 6, police gunned down another man who approached them and opened fire with a silver-coloured hand gun after a high-speed car chase.<\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>The most recent shooting death involving police occurred on June 20 when 30-year-old Andrew Williams was shot dead by police after opening fire with a gun on officers.
