{"id":2456,"date":"2010-09-27T09:59:32","date_gmt":"2010-09-27T13:59:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=2456"},"modified":"2010-09-27T09:59:32","modified_gmt":"2010-09-27T13:59:32","slug":"copper-teifin-still-big-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2010\/09\/copper-teifin-still-big-business","title":{"rendered":"Copper Teifin&#8217; Still Big Business"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The City of Freeport Council has become the  latest victim of copper wire theft after bandits made away with lengths  of wire from the Independence Park.<\/p>\n<p>Freeport City Councillor for High Rock Fritz Thompson said that someone went and cut the supply lines that run  underground carrying approximately 600 feet of copper wire.<\/p>\n<p>The electric box had been broken open and a pipe encasing the wires  was broken so the thieves could access the bunch of wire and rip it out  of the ground.<\/p>\n<p>One week ago, two Grand Bahama businesses were  also hit by copper thieves and police were said to be investigating  those matters.<\/p>\n<p>According to official reports, sometime between the close of business  on Thursday, September 16 and the morning of Friday, September 17,  thieves stole copper wire with an estimated value of $500 from an  air-conditioning unit located on the outside of the Kelly&#8217;s True Value  building.<\/p>\n<p>When employees arrived at the store and turned on the  air-conditioning system on Friday morning they realized that it was not  functioning properly and went outside to conduct a physical inspection  of the unit.
