After a successful launch last year, organisers have announced the date for the upcoming 2nd annual Abaco Business Outlook seminar. <\/P><\/p>\n
Under the theme “Building on Diversity”, this year’s conference is slated to be held Wednesday, Sept. 22, Great Abaco Beach Resort. <\/P><\/p>\n
Co-organisers of the event are the Abaco Chamber of Commerce and the Nassau-based marketing firm, The Counsellors Ltd. According to Abaco Chamber of Commerce president, Michael Albury, “his organisation and the Abaco community as a whole are more than pleased with The Counsellors’ continued commitment to hosting an event of this magnitude once again on their island.” <\/P><\/p>\n
“Abaco’s growth and contribution to the Bahamian economy cannot be overlooked and so it’s only logical that we continue to expand our roster of conference sites to include this island which is definitely on the move,” says Joan Albury, President, The Counsellors Ltd. <\/P><\/p>\n
Speakers at the September conference include a cadre of professionals from various fields throughout the country. Attendees will hear from Obie Wilchcombe, Minister of Tourism – “Building on Diversity”; Michael Albury, President, Abaco Chamber of Commerce \uff96 “Welcome Address”; Glen Pritchard, Tropic Seafood – “Fisheries Opportunities & Challenges”; Felix Stubbs, IBM – “Technology, Communication & Information”; Art Sands, 1st V.P., Abaco Chamber of Commerce, “Abaco Outlook”; Dale McHardy, Manager, Business Advisory Services & Corporate Secretary, Bahamas Development Bank \uff96 “Economic Diversity & Strength Through Small Business”; John Bethel, Tropical Shipping – “The Shipping Industry: Indicator of Economic Growth”; Mark Scott, G.M., The Abaco Club of Winding Bay – “Report on the Resort Development”; and Alfred Stewart, Chairman, Social Security Reform Commission \uff96 “Social Security Reform”. <\/P><\/p>\n
“The wide array of speakers and topics certainly reflects the seminar’s theme of ‘Building on Diversity’,” says Joan Albury. “Abaco is blessed with a diverse economy whether agriculture, fisheries, tourism, etc., and the purpose of the seminar is to showcase the various different opportunities available for the growth of individual businesses, the island’s economy and the country as a whole.” <\/P><\/p>\n
“We’re extremely excited to return to Abaco,” she further added. “The reception we received last year was overwhelming and numerous attendees, including local high school students, thanked us for bringing such an informative and timely programme directly to them.” <\/P><\/p>\n
The ‘Business Outlook’ seminars began 13 years ago in New Providence, with this year’s Nassau edition drawing hundreds in January under the theme “Looking Out For Global Opportunities”. The sixth annual Grand Bahama edition of the seminar was held in March under the theme,”Grand Bahama \uff96 50 Years & Growing”. <\/P><\/p>\n
