The Bahamas Financial Services Board has released the names of five (5) finalists for this year’s Financial Services Student Award. This recognition programme was introduced in 2002 in an effort to profile outstanding College of The Bahamas graduates. Nominees are selected based on a minimum GPA, College & Community Involvement, among other criteria. Included in the judging process is an interview with all finalists, and there also is a written submission component of the programme. <\/P><\/p>\n
Nominees are selected from the graduating class of COB, including disciplines such as economics, economics & finance, banking & finance, law and criminal justice, accountancy, computer information systems \uff96 for both BBA and AA graduates. <\/P><\/p>\n
A BFSB-coordinated Working Group undertakes responsibility for selecting the finalists, working in conjunction with the COB’s School of Business. The 2004 finalists are: <\/P><\/p>\n

The winner student will be recognised at the upcoming Financial Services Industry Awards Banquet in October. BFSB’s CEO & Executive Director Wendy C Warren says the award programme is part of the Financial Centre Focus (FCF) initiative established by BFSB to raise the profile of specific components considered essential for the continued success of The Bahamas as an international financial services centre. This is done through ongoing public education and awareness programmes, focusing on (i) Developments in the industry; (ii) The importance of high service standards; (iii) Enhancing relationships between the financial services industry and the community; and (iv) Attracting and maintaining qualified industry professionals.<\/P>
