{"id":246320,"date":"2004-12-23T11:37:45","date_gmt":"2004-12-23T16:37:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2004\/12\/gas-retailers-told-to-offer-service-or-be-shut-down"},"modified":"2004-12-23T11:37:45","modified_gmt":"2004-12-23T16:37:45","slug":"gas-retailers-told-to-offer-service-or-be-shut-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2004\/12\/gas-retailers-told-to-offer-service-or-be-shut-down","title":{"rendered":"Gas Retailers Told To Offer Service Or Be Shut Down"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Propane gas retailers have until a minute after noon today to offer service to the entire public or they will be shut down indefinitely, according to Leslie Miller, Minister of Trade and Industry.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\n&#8220;They are breaking the law,&#8221; said Mr. Miller. &#8220;It is unfair, especially to the mothers of this country who are trying to prepare Christmas dinners, for them (the retailers) to say &#8216;we are only selling to paradise island or Kentucky Fried Chicken or a restaurant out west&#8217;.&#8221;<br \/>\n<P>&#8220;Consumers should never be held hostage like this, and it is a mandate of the government to protect the Bahamian public.&#8221;<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nMr. Miller also announced Wednesday that the retailers will be able to sell the 100 pound tanks of gas to consumers for $65 per container.
