{"id":246382,"date":"2005-01-06T10:56:34","date_gmt":"2005-01-06T15:56:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2005\/01\/police-defend-investigation-into-rape-allegation"},"modified":"2005-01-06T10:56:34","modified_gmt":"2005-01-06T15:56:34","slug":"police-defend-investigation-into-rape-allegation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2005\/01\/police-defend-investigation-into-rape-allegation","title":{"rendered":"Police Defend Investigation Into Rape Allegation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Royal Bahamas Police Force defended its actions yesterday in the investigation of the highly publicised rape allegations against Works and Utilities minister Bradley Roberts.<br \/>\n<P>It was reported that police mediated a confrontation between Mr. Roberts and his accuser during their investigation of the case.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nIn a press conference that police yesterday, Commissioner Paul Farquharson confirmed that there was a meeting between the two parties.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nHe said it was not unusual for police to use a confrontation between a complainant and the accused to determine the validity of a case.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nMr. Farquharson also said they have completed their month long investigation and the matter has now been turned over to the Attorney General&#8217;s office.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nDirector of Prosecutions for the AG&#8217;s office, Bernard Turner, told The Tribune that he is not sure when or if charges will be filed against Mr. Roberts.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\n&#8220;We do not want to be tied to a deadline.
