Grand Bahama Island, Bahamas, Jan. 6, 2005 – A group of sixteen top journalists from the United States and Canada traveled to Grand Bahama Island to experience the hospitality of The Islands Of The Bahamas on a press trip hosted by the Ministry of Tourism, Jan. 6 through Jan. 9, 2005. <\/P><\/p>\n
\nThe Ministry of Tourism used the re-opening of the Westin at Our Lucaya as an opportunity to communicate to this group of media that Grand Bahama Island is back and better than ever. During their stay, writers were invited to participate in a range of activities, including shopping, snorkeling, golfing or a Kayak Nature Tour. <\/P><\/p>\n
The sixteen media guests, representing a variety of U.S. and Canadian national and regional publications, researched various angles ranging from a Bahamian honeymoon to golfing on Grand Bahama Island. Publications represented included: <\/P><\/p>\n

\n·\tBlack Professionals Magazine, a business magazine tailored for African-Americans ·\tNew Jersey Suburban Parent, a lifestyle magazine for affluent New Jersey families
\n·\tFirst for Women, a widely-read women’s magazine covering family issues ·\tBusiness Traveler Magazine, a travel industry publication focusing on meetings
\n·\tOxygen Magazine, a Canadian women’s magazine with an emphasis on fitness

The writers began their adventure with an introduction to Grand Bahama Island, including dinners hosted by the Westin at Our Lucaya and Pelican Bay at Lucaya. The group also toured various sites on the island and had some leisure time to pursue individual angles or speak with residents.
