Police were called to the scene of a hit-and-run traffic accident Sunday morning, which claimed the life of a 46-year-old New Providence resident.<\/P><\/p>\n
Chief Superintendent Hulan Hanna said the only information police had about the vehicle that struck the victim was a description of its colour, which was green. <\/P><\/p>\n
The fatal mishap occurred on Nassau Street around 1 am when the vehicle, which was being driven in a southerly direction, hit Uriah Hart Morley, Mr. Hanna said.<\/P><\/p>\n
According to police reports, Mr. Morley was transported to Princess Margaret Hospital, but succumbed to injuries around 3:45 Sunday morning. His death increased the number of traffic-related fatalities for the year to four.<\/P><\/p>\n
Mr. Hanna said the driver of the vehicle left the scene of the accident and remained unidentified up to Sunday afternoon, however, police investigations continued.<\/P><\/p>\n
Mr. Hanna also disclosed that the two suspects wanted in connection with the shooting death of a security officer last week remained on the run.<\/P><\/p>\n
He pointed out, however, that police were making some progress in their investigations, adding that, \uff93We are getting quite a bit of assistance from the public, but at this point nothing [sufficiently] definitive to lead to an arrest.\uff92<\/P><\/p>\n
Richard Petty, 28, became the third murder victim of 2005 last Friday when two men robbed Wilmac\uffb4s Pharmacy on Poinciana Drive at gunpoint, according to police.<\/P><\/p>\n
Upon leaving the establishment, the suspects shot Mr. Petty in the head, police said.<\/P><\/p>\n
