{"id":246475,"date":"2005-01-19T11:23:44","date_gmt":"2005-01-19T16:23:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2005\/01\/plp-chairman-slams-fnm-over-roberts"},"modified":"2005-01-19T11:23:44","modified_gmt":"2005-01-19T16:23:44","slug":"plp-chairman-slams-fnm-over-roberts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2005\/01\/plp-chairman-slams-fnm-over-roberts","title":{"rendered":"PLP Chairman Slams FNM Over Roberts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PLP national chairman Raynard Rigby said yesterday that the FNM is attempting to inspire hysteria by continuing to &#8220;destructively twist the absolute exoneration&#8221; of Bradley Roberts, the Minister of Works and Utilities.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nLast week it was announced that a woman who had accused Mr. Roberts of raping her in her Marathon home last December had withdrawn the allegation.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nFollowing the Attornmey General&#8217;s announcement that no prosecution would take place, the president of the Grand Bahama Human Rights Association Frederick Smith called for immediate resignation of the Prime Minister and his Cabinet ministers.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\n&#8220;The PLP has been fighting for the rights of the individual and for the rights of women for more than half a century and will not be lectured by some one who has shown himself to be a summer and part-time soldier in the campaign for human rights,&#8221; responded Mr. Rigby.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nMr. Rigby added that it is &#8220;utter nonsense&#8221; that a well-known person be thrown into a cell once an allegation is made against him or her, just to demonstrate that he is no different than an ordinary citizen.<br \/>\n<P><B>Source: Paul G.
