{"id":246494,"date":"2005-01-24T11:16:18","date_gmt":"2005-01-24T16:16:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2005\/01\/migrants-in-bahamas-complain-of-treatment"},"modified":"2005-01-24T11:16:18","modified_gmt":"2005-01-24T16:16:18","slug":"migrants-in-bahamas-complain-of-treatment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2005\/01\/migrants-in-bahamas-complain-of-treatment","title":{"rendered":"Migrants In Bahamas Complain Of Treatment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><P>NASSAU, Bahamas &#8212; Cuban and Haitian migrants in a government detention center in Nassau, Bahamas, say they are regularly beaten while handcuffed. <\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>The migrants also allege they are subjected to extortion, denied clean water and medical treatment, reported the Miami Herald Sunday. <P><\/p>\n<p>The allegations were made to a Herald journalist when he visited the Carmichael Detention Center in the Bahamas. <\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>Allegations of prisoners being forced to eat off the ground, the rape of two women and subjecting two Cuban men to mock executions, were also made to Amnesty International. <\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>&#8220;We are not criminals,&#8221; David Mart\ufffdnez Perez told the Herald. &#8220;We didn&#8217;t commit a crime. We are immigrants.
