NASSAU, Bahamas — Cuban and Haitian migrants in a government detention center in Nassau, Bahamas, say they are regularly beaten while handcuffed. <\/P><\/p>\n
The migrants also allege they are subjected to extortion, denied clean water and medical treatment, reported the Miami Herald Sunday.

The allegations were made to a Herald journalist when he visited the Carmichael Detention Center in the Bahamas. <\/P><\/p>\n
Allegations of prisoners being forced to eat off the ground, the rape of two women and subjecting two Cuban men to mock executions, were also made to Amnesty International. <\/P><\/p>\n
“We are not criminals,” David Mart\ufffdnez Perez told the Herald. “We didn’t commit a crime. We are immigrants. This is inhuman.” <\/P><\/p>\n
Bahamian officials deny allegations of abuse. <\/P><\/p>\n
“We are accommodating unwelcome strangers,” said Immigration Minister Vincent Peet.<\/P><\/p>\n
