Prime Minister Perry Christie has been urged to show “guts” by self-imposed Bishop Neil Ellis – the fiery church leader who has always been considered one of his biggest supporters.

\nMr. Ellis’ call came in a powerful sermon which stunned his congregation and set alarm bells ringing among government politicians.

\nThe controversial religious leader’s outburst came as he urged Mr. Christie to show courage in dealing decisively with the apparent lawlessness of “foreign elements” in the Bahamas and government colleagues who threaten the nation’s stability and reputation.
\nIf he didn’t, he warned, “you go down with them”.
\n
\nEllis’ attack shocked PLP supporters who had always considered him firmly behind the government.
\n
\nIt was Mr. Ellis who ‘urged’ his flock to vote PLP before the 2002 general election, saying those who didn’t had no place in his church.
