{"id":246525,"date":"2005-02-03T12:48:22","date_gmt":"2005-02-03T17:48:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2005\/02\/tracetbel-offers-40-mil-to-relocate-cruise-ships"},"modified":"2005-02-03T12:48:22","modified_gmt":"2005-02-03T17:48:22","slug":"tracetbel-offers-40-mil-to-relocate-cruise-ships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2005\/02\/tracetbel-offers-40-mil-to-relocate-cruise-ships","title":{"rendered":"Tracetbel Offers $40 Mil To Relocate Cruise Ships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A senior official with Tractebel, part of a consortium seeking approval for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal on Grand Bahama, said the company had &#8220;undertaken&#8221; to provide $40 million to fund the relocation of Freeport Harbour&#8217;s cruise ship terminal to ease the government fears about any accidents impacting the tourism industry.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nJim Ebeling, Tractebel&#8217;s vice-president of business development and project manager for its proposed Calypso LNG pipeline and terminal in Freeport, told The Tribune the government was continuing to review information it had requested.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nThis, he said, followed the release of the Sandia Study, which looked at potential risks to LNG facilities, both from an operational standpoint and acts that were considered intentional, such as terrorism.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\n&#8220;Mr. Ebeling said, &#8220;We beieve we have answered all the issues related to any environmental concerns, or concerns that might come up during the construction period. We&#8217;ve been asked about specific issues based on this newly released information in regard to the safety and security of residents.
