A 34-year-old man was stabbed mulitple times in the stomach when an argument turned violent at the weekend’s International Beer Festival, police reported yesterday.

\nGary Turner’s condition is serious but not life threatening, said police, who received a report of the stabbing arond 8pm Saturday.
\n
\nThe two men are believed to have a history of tension between them, It is suspected that the altercation may have been over a woman, according to police.

\nChief Supt Hulan Hanna emphasised that the stabbing, although serious, was the only matter of police concern during the festival. He attributed the otherwise peaceful event to the preventative measures taken by the event’s organisers.
