Prime Minister Perry Christie was rushed to hospital around 6:00am Tuesday morning after suffering chest pains and numbness in his limbs, classic symptoms of a stroke or heart attack.<\/P><\/p>\n
The nation’s top medical professionals, including the PM’s personal physician Dr. Perry Gomez, sprung into action, stabilising the PM in record time before undertaking a series of tests, including a Cat Scan, to determine the full extent of his sudden illness.<\/P><\/p>\n
By mid-morning, doctors had diagnosed the problem as “severe hypertension”, saying Mr. Christie’s blood pressure was “out of control”. \uffa0Later, they were happy to report that Mr. Christie had “recovered 99.5%, with a full recovery expected”. \uffa0Dr. Brown at Princess Margaret Hospital said the Prime Minister would be hospitalised until, at least, the end of the week and may not be fully recovered for about a month.<\/P><\/p>\n
Dr. Brown said the Prime Minister’s heart was now functioning well, his blood pressure was under control and his muscle stength “was where we’d like to see it.”<\/P><\/p>\n
It is expected that upon full recovery, Mr. Christie will be put on medication to avert any similar incidents and that the PM may have to make a few lifestyle changes to ensure his health remains good.<\/P><\/p>\n
Security at the hospital was at an all-time high as Royal Bahamas Police officers took positons in and around the hospital to ensure the security of the nation’s chief executive.<\/P><\/p>\n
