Police reported yesterday that around 2am an armed home invasion and shooting took place in the Fox Hill area.<\/P><\/p>\n
Police said a 37-year-old resident of Davis Street was reportedly awakened during the wee hours of the morning to a loud banging on the door.<\/P><\/p>\n
The resident, who was reportedly home with his fianc\ufffde and other relatives, opened the door for the men who identified themselves as police officers, police said.<\/P><\/p>\n
However, the men were said to be imposters and police suspect that their mission was robbery.<\/P><\/p>\n
Inspector Evans reported that all three men were armed, one wielded a handgun, another a shotgun and the other offender a wrench.<\/P><\/p>\n
During the home invasion police said that a large amount of money was stolen.<\/P><\/p>\n
This subsequently resulted in a struggle between the resident and the armed culprit, according to police. <\/P><\/p>\n
Two shots were reportedly fired during the struggle, and as a result one of the imposters was shot in the chest.<\/P><\/p>\n
Police said the men fled the scene on foot, but were eventually caught and were in police custody.<\/P><\/p>\n
Inspector Evans urged the public to request identification from persons who identify themselves as police.<\/P><\/p>\n
“There is an identification badge that each officer who is in plain clothes, who is off-duty or who is performing a role as a detective\uff85is in possession of,” Inspector Evans warned.<\/P><\/p>\n
Giving the description of the police badge, Inspector Evans cautioned the public to look out for certain aspects to ensure that the badge is an authentic one.<\/P><\/p>\n
“The badge has a crest and is either gold or brass or silver plated. It has the police force crest and it also states the rank of the individual. In addition, there is a photo aspect of the badge of the officer along with the signature from the commissioner of police and the police officer that the badge was assigned to,” he said.<\/P><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
