A well-rested and healthy looking Prime Minister Perry Christie made a surprise appearance at the Farm Road Mothers and Fathers Luncheon yesterday.

\nHis first public appearance since hospitalisation for a minor stroke, Prime Minister Christie spoke of returning to office soon and thanked friends, supporters and well-wishers for their prayers during his humbling experience with his recent illness.
\n
\n“It is always right to come to where people are being honoured for community service. People have given so much for such a long time without ever being recognised,” he said.
\n
\n“My illness has given me cause to recognise that I never appreciated life in the way I ought to. After over 30 years of marriage I found myself sitting at evenings having dinner with my wife.”
\n
\n“A son who I was never there for because I was always gone, lying there to rub my head for the first time I can remember.”
\n
\nPrime Minister Christie was hospitalised on May 3 after awakening in his Cable Beach home around 4:30am experiencing some physical discomfort on the right side of his body. First diagnosed with severe hypertension, MRI’s, however, confirmed that Mr. Christie had suffered a minor stroke on the left side of his brain.

\nMr. Christie’s personal physician, Dr. Perry Gomez, said it was the immediate care that Mr. Christie received that made such a quick recovery possible.
