{"id":247125,"date":"2005-06-02T10:52:03","date_gmt":"2005-06-02T14:52:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2005\/06\/bahamas-blamed-for-collapse-of-us-terror-inquiry"},"modified":"2005-06-02T10:52:03","modified_gmt":"2005-06-02T14:52:03","slug":"bahamas-blamed-for-collapse-of-us-terror-inquiry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2005\/06\/bahamas-blamed-for-collapse-of-us-terror-inquiry","title":{"rendered":"Bahamas Blamed For Collapse Of US Terror Inquiry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bahamian authorities have been blamed for being partly responsible for &#8220;dealing a blow to US efforts to choke off terror financing&#8221;.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nAuthorities in Switzerland were forced to drop a three-and-a-half year case against top officials of Al Taqwa Management Organization because authorities in the Bahamas failed to provide essential bank records by a court deadline, Claude Nicati, deputy Swiss federal prosecutor told Associated Press.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nThe Swiss say that the Bahamas &#8220;never gave a usable response&#8221; to their requests for judicial prudence.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nSwiss authorities said on Wednesday that they had halted the investigation into the now defunct Muslim firm that the US suspects of al-Qaida links.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nUS officials accuse Al Taqwa of sending al-Qaida money through Malta and Switzerland to bank branches in the Bahamas.<br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nThe US accused Al Taqwa, which was renamed Nada Management Organization, of helping to fund Osama bin Laden&#8217;s terrorist network.
