{"id":247291,"date":"2005-07-04T10:51:58","date_gmt":"2005-07-04T14:51:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2005\/07\/explosion-at-atlantis"},"modified":"2005-07-04T10:51:58","modified_gmt":"2005-07-04T14:51:58","slug":"explosion-at-atlantis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2005\/07\/explosion-at-atlantis","title":{"rendered":"Explosion At Atlantis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A massive explosion rocked Nassau last night as a cache of fireworks went off unexpectedly at Atlantis on Paradise Island.<\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>The blast, which shook buildings and rattled windows over a wide area, sent a huge plume of black smoke into the air and set a storeful of carpets ablaze.<\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>Miraculously, only three people received minor injuries.<\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>Atlantis discounted reports that the fireworks were for today&#8217;s July 4 celebrations and said inquiries were still being made as to how they got there.<\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>The explosion occurred shortly after 6pm near the Club Med site where Atlantis&#8217; Phase Three development will be built.<\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>Atlantis spokesman Ed Fields told The Tribune, &#8220;No tourists were in danger, and nor was the hotel building. This happened in an open area which is patrolled by security men. The public is not allowed there.<\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>It is understood the fireworks were in a container near another container in which carpets were stored.
