In the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on London yesterday, the Bahamas expresses in a note to the Foreign Commonwealth Office its sorrow over the tragic loss of life calling it “an attack on the very heart and core of our values”.<\/P><\/p>\n
The Bahamas Maritime Authority, located near one of the principal sites of the explosion, had to be evacuated and Bahamians in and around London were affected by the blasts.<\/P><\/p>\n
As of yesterday, the series of bomb attacks on London’s transport network killed more than 30 people and injured about 700 others.<\/P><\/p>\n
Three explosions on the Undeground left 35 dead. Two more died in a blast on a double decker bus.<\/P><\/p>\n
Rachel Barlow, who works at the Royal Free Hospital in London, told The Tribune that the incident had essentially shut the hosipital down.<\/P><\/p>\n
“It is crazy here. Our hospital has basically been shut except for emergency work and everyone is sitting around in shock and wondering how they can all get home.<\/P><\/p>\n
“All our theatres are full and we have 55 emergency admissions and the Middlesex and St. Mary’s and the London hospitals are taking most of the casualties so the numbers on the news are pretty conservative,” said Ms. Barlow.<\/P><\/p>\n
The Bahamas Maritime Office in London sent an email to their home office in New Providence saying that everyone was accounted for and unhurt.<\/P><\/p>\n
Because the Maritime Authority is near one of the principal blast sites at Aldgate East Station, the building had to be evacuated by the police.<\/P><\/p>\n
