{"id":247382,"date":"2005-07-19T18:42:46","date_gmt":"2005-07-19T22:42:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2005\/07\/cable-bahamas-announces-basic-cable-channel-changes"},"modified":"2005-07-19T18:42:46","modified_gmt":"2005-07-19T22:42:46","slug":"cable-bahamas-announces-basic-cable-channel-changes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2005\/07\/cable-bahamas-announces-basic-cable-channel-changes","title":{"rendered":"Cable Bahamas Announces Basic Cable Channel Changes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cable Bahamas, provider of cable television and broadband Internet services in the Bahamas, announced coming refinements to the basic cable television packages in New Providence, Grand Bahama, Abaco and Eleuthera beginning this August through September.<\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>Several new channels, including Discovery Channel, Food Network, and Tempo, a new Caribbean-focused music network, will be added to basic cable. Sci-Fi and E! Entertainment Television, while currently on basic in Grand Bahama\/Abaco and Nassau respectively, will now become part of basic cable for all four islands.<\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>When the changes are complete, all cable television customers on the above islands will have identical basic cable packages for the first time.<\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>Cable Bahamas Director of Marketing and Pay-Per-View David Burrows stated that while New Providence, Grand Bahama and Abaco will have several channel changes, replacements and additions, Eleuthera customers will see a near-complete revamp of their basic cable package, with the addition of numerous new channels. In addition to the channel changes, basic cable channels will be realigned so that channels offering similar programming genres are grouped together. Burrows stated, \uff93For example, if you are following a news story it will be easier to surf from one news channel to the next using your remote control. With the major networks, family and children\uffb4s channels grouped together, it will be easier and faster to find just what you want.\uff92<\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>All of the above changes are possible because of a recently completed two million dollar ($2M), technical upgrade investment in Cable Bahamas\uffb4 broadband signal processing facility in Nassau. This project, over a year in planning and implementation, is part of the company\uffb4s overall cable television digital cable upgrade strategy that will introduce many new television services. The company promised an announcement of these new services soon.<\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>A detailed schedule and a listing of the revised basic channel lineup will soon be posted to the company\uffb4s web site, www.cablebahamas.com.<\/P><\/p>\n<p><P><small>Cable Bahamas Ltd. is majority owned by 2,500 Bahamians and the Government of the Bahamas.
