{"id":247425,"date":"2005-07-28T10:53:35","date_gmt":"2005-07-28T14:53:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2005\/07\/bahamian-arrested-in-bimini-tourist-murders"},"modified":"2005-07-28T10:53:35","modified_gmt":"2005-07-28T14:53:35","slug":"bahamian-arrested-in-bimini-tourist-murders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2005\/07\/bahamian-arrested-in-bimini-tourist-murders","title":{"rendered":"Bahamian Arrested In Bimini Tourist Murders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Police were holding one person in connection with the murders of two visiting Austrian nationals this past weekend, Assistant Commissioner of Police responsible for crime Reginald Ferguson confirmed yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>But, he refused to give further details on the arrest.<\/p>\n<p>The couple &#8211; Barbara Frelln von Perfall, a member of the Austrian royal family and her companion, Berhard Bolzano \u2013 was found shot to death in their hotel room at the Anchorage Bimini Blue Water Resort on Saturday<\/p>\n<p>It was the same day they were expected to end their three-day visit to that island. <\/p>\n<p>The couple was reportedly engaged to be married.<\/p>\n<p>This week, the Austrian Honorary Consul in The Bahamas Ernst Rumer said he was hoping for a quick breakthrough in the case to minimize the chances of any fallout once news spread about the slayings.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday police reported that they still had no suspects and no motive. <\/p>\n<p>The bodies had been flown to Nassau for an autopsy to be performed.<\/p>\n<p>News about the arrest spread quickly in Bimini, a quaint island whose earnings are primarily generated from tourism, much like the rest of The Bahamas.<\/p>\n<p>The man whom police were said to be holding was reportedly a resident of Alice Town.<\/p>\n<p><small>By: Macushla N.
