Police are expected to haul a 40-year-old man before a Magistrate’s Court sometime this week on drug related charges. <\/p>\n
Police reported that around 2:30pm on Monday officers executed a search warrant on the man’s Sunlight Cottage home, off East Street.<\/p>\n
But according to Inspector Walter Evans, a Rottweiler greeted officers.<\/p>\n
The dog was eventually shot and officers proceeded with the search, he said.<\/p>\n
Inside the home, they reportedly discovered three pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of just under $3,000.<\/p>\n
Investigations were also continuing into a late night shooting on Monday.<\/p>\n
Police said around 10:30pm Monday Rudolph Campbell and Roland Estinor were sitting on a wall just off Wilson Track when they were approached by a lone gunman demanding cash.<\/p>\n
After receiving just $20, the bandit reportedly shot both men in the thigh. The pair was taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital where their condition was said to be non-life threatening, police said.<\/p>\n
Meantime, police said the hunt continued for the bandits behind two recent armed robberies, the first taking place at a popular eatery on Village Road.<\/p>\n
Police said around 7:45am Monday two gunmen – one wielding a shotgun, the other a handgun – emerged from the ceiling of the Kentucky Fried Chicken establishment, demanding cash from the employees.<\/p>\n
Police said the culprits were taken to a safe and stole a large sum of money and other personal items before escaping in the direction of Blair Estates.<\/p>\n
Later that day, police said they were called to the scene of another incident at an establishment on Jerome Avenue.<\/p>\n
According to Inspector Evans, around 2:40pm a gunman entered the store and robbed an employee of five packs of T-shirts, three pairs of socks and a small quantity of cash before fleeing.<\/p>\n
