Water rose in the streets of New Providence yesterday and several areas experienced extensive flooding after a series of cloudbursts dumped inches on the capital.<\/P><\/p>\n
Cars stalled as they attempted to manoeuvre through the city and store managers tried to keep water at bay.<\/P><\/p>\n
On Shirley Street and Bay Street stores locked their doors and in some cases placed boards in front of them to keep the water out.<\/P><\/p>\n
Traffic came to a standstill in the early afternoon as main roads, suchas Nassau Street and Poinciana Drive were inundated by flood water.<\/P><\/p>\n
Drains were overflowing all over the island as ‘small lakes’ formed in the streets.<\/P><\/p>\n
