{"id":248182,"date":"2005-11-16T19:12:01","date_gmt":"2005-11-17T00:12:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2005\/11\/film-festival-update"},"modified":"2005-11-16T19:12:01","modified_gmt":"2005-11-17T00:12:01","slug":"film-festival-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2005\/11\/film-festival-update","title":{"rendered":"Film Festival Update!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><P>New York, New York (November 15, 2005) \uff96 \uff96 The Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) is proud to announce its exciting line up of prominent jurors and influential panelists for the film festival December 8-11, 2005. \uffa0\uffa0In celebration of Cinema in Paradise, the Second Annual BIFF will present sixty-eight films, encompassing international features, shorts, documentaries, animation and panels. \uffa0Additionally, the festival\uffb4s Career Achievement Award recipient, Spike Lee will be hosting a film residency program for young filmmakers at the festival. <\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>The Spirit of Freedom category, presented by Versace, will honor one dramatic film and one documentary film. \uffa0The subject matters touch upon the filmmakers\uffb4 personal convictions and journeys into the human spirit, with ties to themes such as religion, politics and the freedom of expression. The jurors for the Spirit of Freedom Dramatic Competition are actor Anthony Mackie, Duopoly\uffb4s Liz Manne and journalist Harlan Jacobsen. The jurors for the Spirit of Freedom Documentary Competition are MOMA\uffb4s film division curator, Jytte Jensen, Film Finders co-owner Sydney Levine, and writer\/producer John Pierson. <\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>The New Visions category is for narrative films only and is presented by the Hard Rock Caf\ufffd. This category will focus on emerging artists who have completed no more than two films.
