What should have been just an ordinary snorkeling trip turned tragic for a 25-year-old tourist, who police said drowned around 3pm Tuesday. <\/p>\n
Reports indicate that the victim, who is believed to be a resident of Devon, England, somehow ventured off from the group snorkeling at Stuart’s Cove, South Ocean. <\/p>\n
Police say the man was found a short time later in an unconscious state.<\/p>\n
The tourist was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n
In other news from the crime beat, police investigations continued yesterday into an attempted and armed robberies.<\/p>\n
The first incident occurred at a home in the Skyline Drive area. <\/p>\n
A 60-year-old man had just arrived home around 9pm Tuesday when he was approached by two men – one dressed in a ski mask and a pair of blue jeans and armed with a handgun, police reported yesterday.<\/p>\n
According to Police Inspector Walter Evans the man was ordered inside his home, where the robbers demanded cash. Police say as a result, the homeowner was shot in the left hip area.<\/p>\n
He was taken to hospital where his condition was last listed as stable.<\/p>\n
Meantime, the robbers reportedly escaped in a white Chevy Cavalier.<\/p>\n
Police say it was shortly before midnight that they received reports that two persons in the West Bay Street area had been held up and robbed by two men in a white Chevy Cavalier.<\/p>\n
One of the bandits has been described as approximately six feet tall with a scarf around his face, armed with a handgun.<\/p>\n
Police believe the two incidents are connected.<\/p>\n
Investigations continue. <\/p>\n
