{"id":248327,"date":"2005-12-12T10:51:56","date_gmt":"2005-12-12T15:51:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2005\/12\/traffic-deaths-in-family-islands"},"modified":"2005-12-12T10:51:56","modified_gmt":"2005-12-12T15:51:56","slug":"traffic-deaths-in-family-islands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2005\/12\/traffic-deaths-in-family-islands","title":{"rendered":"Traffic Deaths in Family Islands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The country recorded another traffic fatality over the weekend, pushing the number of traffic-related deaths so far this year to 63.  <\/p>\n<p>According to police reports, the fatal mishap occurred around 6:50 Friday evening when a Kia Optima being driven in a northerly direction along Burnt Ground Highway on Long Island struck a pedestrian. <\/p>\n<p>The victim, a 55-year-old male, was believed to be a resident of the Burnt Ground community.<\/p>\n<p>He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, Police Inspector Walter Evans said.<\/p>\n<p>Police reported that the mishap was the first traffic fatality on Long Island for the year.
