Two police officers were rushed to hospital on Monday morning after suffering injuries following a high-speed chase, police reported. <\/p>\n
Police said that around 9am officers noticed a white Nissan Sentra traveling at a high rate of speed. <\/p>\n
It was reported that the car proceeded into the Balfour Avenue and Podoleo Street area and the occupants of the vehicle stepped out and started firing several shots at the officers. <\/p>\n
This reportedly resulted in the officers rear-ending a silver Mitsubishi vehicle. The two officers were taken to hospital in a conscious state, police said.<\/p>\n
The gunmen escaped in a nearby area, police said.<\/p>\n
Meantime, two other gunmen were the focus of police investigations on Monday.<\/p>\n
Police said the pair held up a 44-year-old man of Lumumba Lane, Fox Hill around 4am.<\/p>\n
The man had just arrived home when the bandits reportedly robbed him of jewelry before forcing him on the inside of his apartment.<\/p>\n
Police said two other occupants were held at bay. <\/p>\n
According to Police Inspector Walter Evans, after searching the apartment, the robbers left the area on foot with a large amount of cash and other items.<\/p>\n
