Police are investigating a string of armed robberies that occurred in just over an hour Wednesday evening and may be connected. <\/p>\n
The first incident took place just before 7pm, when a 41-year-old woman was walking to her car near the Poinciana Inn, Bernard Road and approached by a dark, short “rasta type” man, armed with a gun.<\/p>\n
“The suspect proceeded to rob the woman of her 2004 red Mitsubishi Lancer – licence plate # 137051,” Inspector Walter Evans told The Bahama Journal.<\/p>\n
Only a short time later, police received reports of a similar incident unfolding at Wendy’s on Bernard Road. <\/p>\n
A gunman reportedly pulled up to the eatery’s drive-through window, demanded cash and escaped with the restaurant’s cash register.<\/p>\n
About an hour later, shortly after 8pm, police received a report of another armed robbery, this time in the Boyd Road area.<\/p>\n
According to reports, a woman was leaving Joy’s Beauty Salon when a Mitsubishi pulled up with two occupants.<\/p>\n
“One of the men, fitting the description given to the police in the previous robberies, exited the vehicle from the rear seat, pulled out a handgun and stole the woman’s handbag and cash,” Inspector Evans reported.<\/p>\n
Investigations into all of the robberies continue.<\/p>\n

Five males between the ages of 15 and 27 were arrested Wednesday afternoon on ammunition charges, police reported yesterday.<\/p>\n
The group was standing in the Fritz Lane area, “acting suspiciously,” when Drug Enforcement Unit Officers decided to search the men and the surrounding area, police said. <\/p>\n
Inspector Evans reported that the officers discovered a bag containing 39 rounds of .32 ammunition.<\/p>\n
Investigations continue.<\/p>\n
