{"id":248612,"date":"2006-01-20T05:18:12","date_gmt":"2006-01-20T10:18:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2006\/01\/bandits-rob-worshippers"},"modified":"2006-01-20T05:18:12","modified_gmt":"2006-01-20T10:18:12","slug":"bandits-rob-worshippers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2006\/01\/bandits-rob-worshippers","title":{"rendered":"Bandits Rob Worshippers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Police Inspector Walter Evans said the worshippers were disrupted by a smashing sound.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They discovered that the western glass door of the building had been shattered,&#8221; he said. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Three bandits then entered the church and held all of the persons at bay, including a pastor, who was tied with a microphone cable as the culprits proceeded to rob him and the church members of cash, cell phones and other personal items.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Police said the robbers fled on foot in the nearby area.<\/p>\n<p>Two hours later, a similar scene played out with a 36-year-old resident of Deveaux Street as the target, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>Police said that the man had just arrived home when three men, one armed with a handgun, approached him.<\/p>\n<p>The culprits robbed the man of his white SUV, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>Meantime, authorities are hoping to soon take three persons before the courts on two separate firearm charges. <\/p>\n<p>The first incident involves a 20-year-old male.<\/p>\n<p>According to Inspector Evans, officers from the Central Police Station were patrolling the Nassau Street area on Wednesday evening when they noticed a man walking suspiciously. <\/p>\n<p>The man was stopped and searched, Mr. Evans said.<\/p>\n<p>Officers reportedly discovered a 9mm sawed off caliber rifle with four live rounds of ammunition in his possession.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Evans also said that after 7pm officers executed a search warrant at a home in Monastery Park where they found a .38 handgun and three live rounds of ammunition.<\/p>\n<p>Police arrested a 29-year-old Jamaican female and a 36-year-old Bahamian male, who reportedly has both Bahamian and Jamaican passports.<\/p>\n<p><small>By: Macushla N.
