{"id":248911,"date":"2006-02-27T09:44:43","date_gmt":"2006-02-27T14:44:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2006\/02\/toddler-perishes-in-fire"},"modified":"2006-02-27T09:44:43","modified_gmt":"2006-02-27T14:44:43","slug":"toddler-perishes-in-fire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2006\/02\/toddler-perishes-in-fire","title":{"rendered":"Toddler Perishes In Fire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Police reports indicate that the fire, which started shortly after 7 o&#8217;clock, burnt the three room wooden house to the ground where one-year-old Shaqeel Jean Pierre resided.<\/p>\n<p>The structure was located in a shanty community just off Faith Avenue north, police Inspector Walter Evans said.<\/p>\n<p>Police reported that another child who was in the house at the time of the fire was able to escape without injury.<\/p>\n<p>Disclosing that the huse was not connected to the city electricity supply, Inspector Evans said fire officials believe the fire might have been started by a kerosene lamp.<\/p>\n<p>The fatality was the first fire-related death for 2006.<\/p>\n<p>In crime news recorded in the capital over the weekend, police reported that they were on the lookout for the two men who were responsible for shooting an employee of a food store during a robbery Saturday night. <\/p>\n<p>The incident occurred after 9 o&#8217;clock when the gunmen held up the Price Is Right food store on Carmichael Road, police said.<\/p>\n<p>The culprits reportedly robbed the establishment of an undetermined amount of money.
