At a youth leaders conference held recently at The College of The Bahamas (COB), Acting President Dr Rhonda Chip-man-Johnson said that it is very important for The Bahamas to focus on developing youth into leaders at an early age.<\/p>\n
Dr Chipman-Johnson stated that there is definitely a need for more youth leaders, especially among our young males.<\/p>\n
She said she feels that when a younger person is trained to be a leader, the more effective and better such person will be at executing any given task.<\/p>\n
“Leaders have the awesome responsibility of effecting major changes in whatever areas they find themselves.”<\/p>\n
She boasted of the fact that COB has produced many of the top leaders in our nation, many of whom are now senators, leading business professionals, doctors and scientists.<\/p>\n
“COB is doing something quite right, in turning out our young people into shapers of tomorrow,” stated Dr Chip-man-Johnson.<\/p>\n
She further declared that a lost youth is a lost nation and mentioned that we should constantly monitor our youth and develop succession strategies for them. “We can’t be here forever, so we as leaders must plan ahead for you young people to succeed us.”<\/p>\n
Dr Chipman-Johnson also mentioned that COB has youth leadership as its focus and spoke of the coming President’s Scholar and Honours programmes.<\/p>\n
