{"id":249064,"date":"2006-03-15T04:55:52","date_gmt":"2006-03-15T09:55:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2006\/03\/man-shot-during-robbery"},"modified":"2006-03-15T04:55:52","modified_gmt":"2006-03-15T09:55:52","slug":"man-shot-during-robbery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2006\/03\/man-shot-during-robbery","title":{"rendered":"Man Shot During Robbery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 41-year-old man was in serious but stable condition in hospital Tuesday after suffering gunshot wounds about the body during an armed robbery early that morning.  <\/p>\n<p>Police said the incident happened just before 3am when the man arrived at his Colony Village home. <\/p>\n<p>Police reported that three masked men dressed in dark clothing, one armed with a handgun, approached the homeowner.<\/p>\n<p>Inspector Walter Evans said police received reports that the burglars held the man at bay and proceeded to rob him of a small amount of cash. <\/p>\n<p>The culprits reportedly demanded more, but after learning that the homeowner had nothing else to give, they fired a series of gunshots, hitting the man in the left chest, the right abdomen area and the left leg.<\/p>\n<p>Police reports reveal that only two hours earlier, a man had just finished using Commonwealth Bank&#8217;s ATM on Nassau Street when a dark male approached him. <\/p>\n<p>Police said the bandit, who was armed with a knife, reportedly demanded cash.<\/p>\n<p>The man later fled on foot with the money, police reported.<\/p>\n<p>Police also said they were still searching for the third man suspected of being involved in the killing of businessman Keith Carey two weeks ago.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are asking [members of] the public to continue their assistance regarding the whereabouts of this individual,&#8221; said Inspector Evans. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He is still wanted by the police and we need to do what is necessary to ensure that he is brought before the courts, but we can only ensure a safe community when the police and the public work hand in hand.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Police said Sean Brown, a resident of Rocky Pine Road, has only two fingers on his right hand. He is considered armed and dangerous. <\/p>\n<p>His alleged cohorts &#8211; Dwight Knowles, 22, and Jamal Glinton, 24 &#8211; were charged with murder on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to being charged with causing Mr. Carey&#8217;s death, the men were charged with armed robbery in connection with the incident. <\/p>\n<p>Police allege the men robbed the businessman of $40,000 in cash and cheques, the property of Esso On the Run on Carmichael Road and Faith Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>In other news from the crime beat, officers of the Quiet Storm Operation arrested 15 persons on Monday, police said.<\/p>\n<p>The group reportedly included seven illegal immigrants, six Haitian males and one Jamaican female. Six persons were also arrested for illegal gambling and two for outstanding warrants, police said.<\/p>\n<p><small>By: Macushla N.
